Tom Culora is a visual artist working in Rhode Island in the United States. His work explores the reconciliation of post-modernism with traditional figurative art. Based on Internet video images, he explores issues of privacy and a culture that promotes the public revelation of private thoughts and vulnerabilities while addressing issues of aesthetics and iconography.
He uses traditional oils on hardboard and multi-media constructions and installations using quotidian objects and elements of photography. A BFA graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York, he was also a former US Navy pilot, ship captain and as a strategic advisor and planner. He holds two masters degrees in International Relations and in Strategic Studies, and has been a fellow at Harvard University in Boston and at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
